Something new is coming Fall 2026!
For 20 years, Velocity Dance Works has been committed to providing quality dance education in a positive, nurturing environment where dancers can grow technically, artistically, and personally, without competition being the focus of their training.
That philosophy is not changing.
What we are excited to do is build upon it.
Bringing Back the Company however, taking It Further
Before COVID, Velocity had a Performance Company “Maximum Velocity”. Members of that company trained and rehearsed together and represented Velocity at performances outside of our annual showcase.
After 2020, we changed that model. Rather than having a designated company, we opened many outside performance opportunities to students on a performance-by-performance basis. This allowed more dancers to participate and was the right approach for our studio at that time.
As Velocity enters its next chapter, however, we are ready to bring back the company concept and with a much more developed program than we had in the past.
We want to provide an opportunity for dancers who are looking for more intensive training, greater technical development, increased performance opportunities, and the experience of working together as a committed team.
To accomplish that, dancers need more than individual performance opportunities. They need the consistency of training, rehearsing, learning choreography, setting goals, and performing together as a company.
Why Two Levels?
We also recognize that dancers have different goals and different amounts of time they are able to commit.
For that reason, the new company will offer two levels of participation, both built around the same Velocity philosophy.
Performance Level
Designed for dancers who want additional training, rehearsals, performance opportunities, and the experience of belonging to a company, but with a more manageable commitment.
Premier Performance Level
Designed for dancers who are ready for a more intensive experience, with higher technical expectations, increased rehearsal and training requirements, and a greater level of commitment to the company and its performances.
Neither level is about competition.
Both are about growth, artistry, technique, teamwork, commitment, and performance.
What Isn't Changing
Our regular Velocity classes will continue to be the heart and foundation of our studio.
The company is not intended to replace regular classes. Instead, it will provide an additional opportunity for dancers who want to take what they are learning in class and apply it in a more intensive performance environment.
And most importantly, Velocity is remaining a non-competition studio.
We believe dancers can be challenged. They can work at a high level. They can develop excellent technique, discipline, confidence, artistry, and stage presence. They can experience the responsibility and camaraderie of belonging to a team.
And they can do all of that without needing to compete.
After 20 years, we are incredibly proud of what Velocity has become. This new company is not a departure from who we are. It is an opportunity to take our philosophy one step further and give dancers who are ready for more a place to grow.
